Ukraine, EU discuss prospects of creating free trade zone
Deputy Head of Ukrainian Presidential Secretariat Andriy Honcharuk and Deputy Director General of the European Commission Directorate General for Trade Peter Balazs have discussed the prospect of creating a free trade zone between Ukraine and the European Union, according to the Ukrainian presidential press service.
In particular, they discussed the talks on preparing an agreement on an association between Ukraine and the European Union (EU), which foresees the creation of a universal and wide-ranging free trade zone between Ukraine and the EU.
Honcharuk said that Ukraine is interested in continuing talks with the EU regarding the free trade zone’s creation, the final goal of which is creating the basis for the entry of Ukraine’s economy to the entire EU market. He said that the future free trade zone would have «an integrating nature, rather than a preferential one.»
